Our Fairfax County Public School Antiracist Policy Demands
The purpose of our Antiracist Policy Demands efforts and this letter is to provide information on how the School Board for Fairfax County Public Schools can create an antiracist policy and curriculum, rooted in transformative changes, that allows BIPOC students, teachers, and families to thrive in school. In order to effect transformative change, the antiracist policy will support the proactive and expeditious dismantling of the pervasive, multi-leveled racism that exists within FCPS practices, activities, procedures, protocols, curriculum, and pedagogy that impacts all students, faculty, and staff with significantly higher dangers for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ folx.
Free & Antiracist Minds | Education Scorecard
Free & Antiracist Minds (FAM) presents this scorecard as a path towards holding Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) accountable to support all stakeholders (students, faculty, administration, parents, and community) in all of their representative dimensions in its promise of creating results that are anitracist in policy and practice. Free & Antiracist Minds aspires to strengthen our mission and vision, which is grounded in social justice, by utilizing new ideas, new business practices, new policies and new partnerships. Our goal is to create a stronger and more sustainable community. Among others in our field, we intend to set an example for creating community-level and national impact. In the world, we strive to leverage the intersectional nature of our work and positively influence other institutions so that we can embrace a diverse society that is antiracist, abolitionist, and inclusive.
Open Letter Regarding FCPS Superintendent Search
The search for a new superintendent is of great importance to the school system and to this whole community. Free & Antiracist Minds (FAM) is one of many grassroots organizations, representing thousands of Fairfax County community members, with a keen interest in participating in the search process and influencing the outcome. The people of this county will only be able to do that effectively if the school board commits to a process that is open and inclusive, from beginning to end.
